If you cannot log in

A step-by-step guide to fixing the most common login problems.

Written by Rupert Searle

It happens, and it is usually simple

Most login problems come down to one of a handful of things, and running through these in order tends to solve it. Try them step by step. If you have worked through all of them and are still stuck, the team will help.

Check you are using the right email

The first and most common cause is signing in with a different email address from the one your Cosmos account was created with. If you have more than one email address, try the one you most recently used in correspondence with us. If you are not sure, look back at any recent Cosmos email and check which address it was sent to.

Reset your password

If your password is not working, request a password reset and follow the email that arrives. The reset email comes from cosmos.global and arrives within a minute or two. Check your spam or junk folder if it does not appear, and add cosmos.global to your safe senders to avoid the same issue next time.

Your two-factor code

If you use two-factor authentication, make sure the code you are entering is the current one. Codes usually rotate every 30 seconds, so an expired code will not work. If your authentication app's clock is out of sync with real time, codes can drift; resetting the time on your phone or the app fixes this.

Browser things to try

A login problem occasionally turns out to be a browser one. A few quick checks: try a private or incognito window, try a different browser, clear your cookies and cached data for cosmos.global, and check that any browser extensions blocking scripts or trackers are not interfering. One of these often solves it.

Still stuck

If you have tried the above and you still cannot log in, contact the team. Tell us the email address you are trying to use, what happens when you try (an error message, a blank page, nothing at all), and what you have already tried. That is usually enough for us to put it right.
