Keeping your contact details current

When to tell us about a change, and why it matters.

Written by Rupert Searle

Why it matters

Cosmos contacts you through your registered email and phone number. If either changes and we do not know, important things break: reminders go to an unread inbox, password resets cannot reach you, and we may not be able to alert you to a deadline or an action that needs you.

When to tell us

Tell Cosmos whenever any of these change:

  • Your email address, especially if it is the email you use to sign in

  • Your phone number

  • Your residential address

  • Your name, for example after marriage

  • Anyone else's details, if you have added a co-owner, director or adviser to your account

Small administrative changes are best told to us as soon as they happen, so we are working with current information rather than catching up later.

Why some changes need extra checks

A change to your name or address is not just a contact update. Where you are an owner or director of a company, that change may also need to be reflected on the official record at a registrar, in compliance documents, and sometimes with your bank. Tell us, and we will let you know whether any of those further filings are needed and handle them with you.

How to update your details

The fastest way is through the chat: send us the new details, and the team will update your account and tell you if anything else needs filing as a result. Where required for security, we may ask you to confirm a change through a separate channel.

Keep an eye on your inbox

If you have not heard from Cosmos in a while when you would expect to, check the email address we have for you, and check your spam folder. Adding cosmos.global to your safe senders helps prevent legitimate messages being filtered out.
